Singapore Airlines Business Class: SIN-SFO A350-900

After landing from the Maldives, I spent my 22 hour layover in Singapore touring around the city before my nonstop flight to San Francisco. The Singapore F1 race was about 2 weeks prior, but some of the track barriers and lighting were still up during my visit. I stopped by The Merlion again as the view of Marina Bay Sands never gets old. The Fullerton Hotel was nearby and I hadn’t stepped inside before so I toured around the former post office building. It was amazing! Worth a stop.

I grabbed a GrabCar from the Westin Singapore to SIN airport. Already in possession of my boarding pass, I proceed through immigration and security. While flying Business class, I was able to visit the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge which had just been renovated. The refresh of the furniture was very nice and modern. Plenty of power outlets šŸ™‚

After spending time in the lounge, I headed to the gate as there is additional security at the gates for USA-bound flights. I attempted to shop at a duty-free store for some Suntory whisky, but was denied the purchase due to being within 90 minutes of departure šŸ™ This is a rule I had never heard about, but will remember this for future trips via Singapore. Upon boarding the A350-900, I found my seat, 15A. My home for the next 15.5 hrs. It was just 1 row behind from when I flew this same seat and plane in 2016. There is plenty of room at the seat, but if you want even more room you should try to book the bulkhead seats as they don’t require you to angle your body to use the footwell. I was offer a pre-departure beverage and I opted for champagne.

It was an evening departure from Singapore so dinner was served after takeoff. The food on Singapore Airlines is always excellent. I love the flavors. It started with some nuts and a glass of Suntory Chita Whisky following by chicken satay. Peanut sauce is my favorite. The salad was a sesame crab mayonnaise salad which was tasty as well. I used the Book The Cook service prior to departure so I was able to preorder the Lobster Thermidor as my main dish. Cooked to perfection! To end the meal service, I selected the pistachio cake for desert which was excellent as well. The tea selection on Singapore Airlines is TWG which is the best brand I’ve had in the world. My go to is the Silver Moon flavor which they had šŸ™‚ After ~4hrs into the flight it was time for bed. A flight attendant made the bed while I changed into PJ’s. The bed is super comfy and the 3 pillows is a nice touch. I was off to bed.

I was able to get a solid 8hrs of sleep! A light lunch was offered towards the end of the flight prior to landing into SFO. I had preordered the Chicken Satay as my lunch before I knew it was going to be an appetizer for dinner. I love it so I was happy to have more. I wasn’t too hungry so for desert I decided to just have a fruit salad. With Live TV and Inflight WiFi, I was able to stay connected during this very long 15.5hr flight.

Landing into SFO was smooth and I was able to get a great view of the sunset. It was strange to depart and arrive in the evening, but Singapore Airlines makes this long haul flight bearable.

Overall: You can’t go wrong with Singapore Airlines Business Class. The service is top notch and the seat is comfortable to sleep in while lie flat. If you’re going to fly nonstop from the USA to Singapore, I’d advise to only fly Singapore Airlines. I can’t imagine flying mediocre United on this route.
