Alaska MVP Gold 75K Status Recap for 2019
I was very fortunate to hold Alaska MVP Gold 75K status from October 2018 until December 2019 via a status match from AA Executive Platinum. Alaska MVP Gold 75K status is their highest tier offering upgrades to First Class, Lounge passes, instant Premium Class upgrades at time of booking, no change fees and many more benefits. The entire list can be found here: https://www.alaskaair.com/content/mileage-plan/membership-benefits
Let’s review how Alaska treated me during 2019 as a MVP Gold 75K:
Short Haul First Class Upgrades:
LAS-SFO (x2)
SJC-SAN (x3)
BUR-SJC (x2)
SJC-BUR (x2)
LAX-SFO
SFO-LAS
SJC-PDX
Long Haul First Class Upgrades:
SFO-JFK
JFK-SJC
SFO-BOS
BOS-SFO
Missed First Class Upgrades:
SAN-SJC (x2)
SFO-LAX
PDX-SJC
SFO-SEA (during Dreamforce Conference)
Final 2019 Stats: 76% of my flights were upgraded to First Class and 100% on long haul flights. I made changes to over 20 flights which would’ve cost me over $2,500 in fees.
Conclusion: Alaska Airlines will treat you well for your loyalty. I did qualify for Alaska MVP status from now until December 2020. I’ll miss the amazing upgrade rates to First and no fees to change or cancel flights. Alaska has already treated me well this year as “just a lowly MVP” with an upgrade to First Class earlier this month on SAN-SFO. I’m looking forward to another year with Alaska 🙂 Give them a try if you frequent their routes!
