United Polaris Lounge SFO

I was on my way to Singapore from San Francisco while flying Singapore First Class so I decided to stop into the new United Polaris Lounge @ SFO. Access to United’s Polaris lounges are restricted to business and first class passengers flying United Polaris or business or first class on Star Alliance partners. Singapore Airlines is a Star Alliance partner so I was good to go.

The lounge is very modern and has excellent accent features. It offers sit down dining, a large bar area, private pods and shower rooms. My flight to Singapore was departing at 1AM so I decided to eat a late dinner in the dining room. Luckily the kitchen stays open until 11PM. I selected the Crispy shrimp cake, Chicken katsu bento box and Tiramisu espresso cup. Wow! All 3 items were amazing! My friend had the United Polaris Burger and commented it was too salty. We paired our meal with a few glasses of Piper-Heidsieck champagne. The United Polaris Old Fashioned was well prepared too.

I didn’t try a shower room, but from the photos they look amazing so definitely use them if you need to freshen up.

The lounge is positioned on the 2nd floor so you have a great view of the International G gates & Terminal 3 gates. It’s a perfect way to spend some time before your flight. It never felt crowded.

They now have Polaris Lounges at ORD, SFO, EWR and IAH. LAX is due for later this year. You can track the progress of future lounges here.

Conclusion: United finally has a lounge at SFO which beats the AMEX Centurion Lounge. I’d highly recommend trying it if you get access. The sit down dining is a great way to grab a bite before a late night departure.
