Hertz Supercars: Chevrolet Corvette Stingray

While in San Diego for a weekend this past July, I decided to rent the Corvette Stingray that Hertz just added to their fleet. Upon arrival, it was waiting for me just outside the Gold Booth. I grabbed the keys from the booth and off I went. It was delivered to Hertz at the end of May 2014 and was #28 of 75 of the Hertz Edition’s. Only 2,747mi on it when I drove it off. The silver color with yellow brake calipers made it one nice looking ride. It’s my first Corvette and it was a blast to drive!

I was limited to 75mi on the rental but paid a bit of mileage overage (22mi @ $0.75 per mi) as I had some extra fun driving it around San Diego County. It was well worth it. The base rental price with AAA discount was $209 for the day. Might not be the best price compared to my other rentals but much better than National’s $400+ a day price. My sister’s dream car is a Corvette so I let her borrow it for the afternoon to test drive it and she really enjoyed it. The new body style and centered quad exhaust makes this a head turner. The removable hardtop made it a nice “convertible”. Give it a try next time you’d like to have some fun in an American made car.

Driving and riding in this car was a blast! It brought back memories of the muscle cars of the ’60’s and ’70’s. My older brother was into Camaro’s back in the days, and it was always a thrill to get to ride in one of his cars. They were always super powerful and definitely head turners — it seemed everyone in town knew my brother and his cars.
